Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-08. Effective October 8, 2026.

The short version. These tools give estimates, not answers you can rely on without checking. You are responsible for checking every result against the code, the manufacturer's instructions, and your local inspector before you install anything. WireAndWidgets is not responsible for what you build. The full terms below are the ones that apply.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and WireAndWidgets ("WireAndWidgets," "we," or "us") for your use of wireandwidgets.com and the tools on it (the "Tools"). By checking the box and clicking "I agree and continue," or by using the Tools, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Tools. You must be at least 18 years old. If you use the Tools for a business, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

2. Estimates only, and not professional advice

The Tools are general-purpose calculators, references, drawing aids, and planning aids. Their results are estimates based on commonly used industry tables and rules. They may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and may not match the code edition, local amendments, or manufacturer data that apply to your project. The Tools are not engineering, legal, safety, or code-compliance advice. Using them does not create a professional relationship, and they are not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified, licensed professional.

3. You are responsible

You alone are responsible for: (a) checking every result, and every file or document you create, against the electrical code and standards that apply where the work is installed, the equipment manufacturer's instructions, and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ); (b) every design, selection, installation, inspection, and safety decision; (c) the accuracy of what you enter; and (d) any panel, drawing, bill of material, label, markup, or other work you produce or use. Electrical work can cause fire, shock, serious injury, death, and property damage. Do not rely on the Tools for any life-safety decision.

4. Disclaimer of warranties

THE TOOLS AND ALL RESULTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR CODE COMPLIANCE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE TOOLS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY RESULT OR WORK PRODUCT WILL PASS INSPECTION OR BE SAFE.

5. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WIREANDWIDGETS AND ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE TOOLS OR THESE TERMS, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH; PROPERTY DAMAGE; FIRE; FAILED INSPECTIONS; REWORK OR REPLACEMENT COSTS; LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA; OR CLAIMS BY YOUR CUSTOMERS OR ANY OTHER THIRD PARTY, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

THE TOOLS ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE TOOLS OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED ZERO U.S. DOLLARS ($0.00). IF A COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION DETERMINES THAT THIS LIMIT CANNOT BE ENFORCED, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE SMALLEST AMOUNT THE LAW PERMITS.

Some places do not allow certain limits or exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited as much as the law allows.

6. Assumption of risk and release

You understand and accept the risks of using estimates in electrical work. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release WireAndWidgets and its owners, members, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from all claims, demands, and liabilities arising from your use of the Tools or your reliance on any result.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless WireAndWidgets and its owners, members, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against all claims, demands, suits, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Tools; (b) any panel, installation, drawing, bill of material, or other work you design, build, sell, or perform; (c) any claim made by your customers, employers, clients, inspectors, insurers, or other third parties relating to that work; or (d) your breach of these Terms or violation of any law.

You agree not to name, join, or bring WireAndWidgets into any claim, lawsuit, or proceeding between you and your customers or any other third party that arises from your work (including by third-party complaint, cross-claim, or demand for contribution), and you agree that you alone are responsible for that work. We may take over the defense of any matter at your expense, and you will cooperate with us.

8. Your data and files

There are no accounts. Calculations, drawings, PDFs, images, bills of material, labels, and everything else you enter or open stay in your browser on your own device. We do not receive, store, or have access to them. Saved work lives in your browser's storage and can be lost if you clear your browsing data, switch devices, or your browser removes it. You are responsible for making your own backups. We are not liable for lost, corrupted, or unavailable data. If we ever add anything that sends information to us, such as optional visit counts, we will say so on this site.

9. Names and standards

Product names, part numbers, and the names of codes and standards that appear in or around the Tools belong to their owners. They are used only to identify things and do not mean any affiliation, endorsement, or approval. We do not provide the text of codes or standards. Obtain and follow the current editions that apply to you.

10. Using the site

We give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Tools for your own personal or internal business use. You may not copy, scrape, resell, rehost, or reverse engineer the Tools or their data, except as the law allows, and you may not use them in a way that breaks the law or interferes with the site. We keep all rights not expressly given.

11. Changes

We may change, suspend, or remove any Tool at any time. We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the version number at the top of this page, and you will be asked to agree again before you continue using the Tools. If you keep using the Tools after agreeing to a new version, the new version applies.

12. Ending access

We may end or limit your access at any time. Sections 2 through 9, 12, and 13 continue to apply after your access ends.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Tools or these Terms must be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Idaho, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Any claim you bring must be started within one year after it arises, to the extent the law allows.

14. General

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Tools. If any part is found unenforceable, it will be enforced as far as possible and the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a part is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these Terms. We may.

15. How your agreement is recorded

When you agree, your browser saves the date and the version of these Terms on your device, so you are not asked again. We do not keep a copy. If you clear your browsing data, you will be asked again.
